Although its native range does include New York, this tall plant is more often found on the prairie.Strongly upright with candle-like spikes of white blooms in summer to 5' high. Dramatic. The Dr. Culver who named it apparently found the root had medicinal qualities. Grows in sun or part-shade in moist, well-drained soil.
