Solidago flexicaulis (zigzag goldenrod)

This goldenrod, which gets its name from the shape of its stem, is one of the best ground covers for dry shade under trees. Zigzag goldenrod grows to 3 feet and spreads to form large clumps over time. It prefers partial to full shade and average soil conditions. Blooming time is September-October. Eurybia divaricata (white wood aster) is a natural companion.
