This shade-loving goldenrod is found in profusion on the edge of the woods as the growing season nears an end. It often grows together with white wood aster and blue wood aster, making a lovely autumn color combination. Bluestem goldenrod nourishes pollinators late into the fall when other plants have stopped blooming. It prefers average soil and partial to full shade, grows to 3 feet in height and blooms in September-October.
