Finely-cut foliage and a long bloom season make it a highly decorative plant. This is the straight species and is taller than the dwarf varieties commonly found in garden centers. It is native to oak and pine savannas in the Southeastern U.S. It prefers full sun and dry to average soil. In wet soil it may flop. You can shear it back at the end of the summer for a fall rebloom. Threadleaf coreopsis spreads quickly via underground rhizomes to make large patches.
