Coreopsis lanceolata (lance-leaved coreopsis)

This scrappy short-lived perennial is covered with cheerful golden flowers in late spring. A finch favorite because of its abundant seeds, this coreopsis self-sows readily and will pop up in other parts of your garden, though it's easily controlled if necessary. The 2’ plant prefers dry, poor, rocky or sandy soil in a sunny location. It has a big burst of blooms in June and may rebloom in the fall.
