Our native clematis is an August bloomer and native bee magnet. The fast-growing vine will root where it touches the ground, so it's good at growing sideways (makes a great ground cover) as well as up. It will twine vigorously up a fence or trellis, or cover a stump or a slope. It likes full sun or partial shade, average to moist soil, and will reach a height of 10 feet. Do not confuse it with the sweet autumn clematis, a sweet-smelling but unfortunately quite invasive non-native.
