This sedge has recently surged in popularity after the celebrated Mt. Cuba Center did a 3-year sedge trial and determined that Carex woodii was the top performer. Mt. Cuba rates plants on their ability to look good in sun and shade, and survive with minimal maintenance. Carex woodii spreads slowly to form a patch, and is most recommended as a low groundcover for shade, though it can also handle a sunny spot. Grows 6" high and is adaptable to a variety of soil types. Small yellow flowers are decorative in a very understated way.
